Overview

The Arizona National Guard seeks to recruit talented men and women to its ranks but faces recurring challenges, including a competitive marketplace, a lack of awareness of career opportunities within the organization, and unfamiliarity with the Arizona National Guard mission.

The Opportunity

Teams are invited to develop a talent-solicitation approach that motivates men and women to join the Arizona National Guard. Using science and social science methodologies, teams will work within the Innovation Challenge framework to develop recruiting approaches that target a variety of demographics, enable the AZNG to collect and analyze data about target audiences, and measure and evaluate recruiting methods. The solutions may be technical, such as assisting the AZNG in visualizing, modeling, or a software application that improves the recruiting process. As well as a marketing campaigns targeting specific demographics, analysis that understands what motivates a decision to join the AZNG, and how to communicate opportunities more effectively.

The Contest

The deadline for proposal submissions is Wednesday, October 24, 2020. Finalists will be announced though the AZNG Challenge portal on Tuesday, September 28, 2020. Finalists will receive funding to implement their proposed solution. A capability demonstration on Competition Day, the “show off,” will be conducted at the conclusion of the AZNG Innovation Challenge.

Why this topic matters

The capability of the Arizona National Guard to perform its mission is determined by its ability to recruit talented women and men to its ranks. The Guard faces recurring challenges to recruiting including a competitive marketplace, lack of awareness of career opportunities within the organization, and a population unfamiliar with the Guard's mission. The Arizona National Guard Innovation Challenge will not only develop a talent-solicitation approach that motivates men and women to join the Arizona National Guard, it will yield courses of action that Guard leadership will be able to pursue as part of their duty to maintain operational readiness. As an industry sponsor, it will have the opportunity to refine solutions relevant to its business.
