Applied Futures Lab

The Applied Futures Lab at ASURE serves as the leading resource for strategic insight and multidisciplinary subject matter expertise on applied threatcasting and futurecasting, which envision possible outcomes ten years into the future and provide possible actions for those futures.

The Applied Futures Lab works closely with Arizona State University and interdisciplinary professionals to help academia, industry, nonprofits, NGOs, the military, and government sectors. Together the Lab helps sponsors envision possible futures and what actionable steps to take in response to future scenarios they want to mitigate or enable. Deliverables may include reports, briefings, articles, podcasts, videos and science fiction prototypes. Science Fiction Prototypes

Using data developed during the reporting phase, the Applied Futures Lab turns data into a comic book, graphic novel or animation to help people comprehend possible future scenarios and the outcomes of those scenarios. These works of fiction provide a detailed illustration of specific people experiencing specific problems to explore the ethical, cultural, policy and security impacts on everyday life. The specific events and locations are imaginary and are meant to provide context.
